Tear Fund Sunday
Every year on the 1st Sunday of March, Caversham Baptist Church celebrates Tear Fund Sunday.
Aiming to support the work of Tear Fund, both financially and spiritually.
This year Andrew and Louise Holt, part of Bracknell Family Church, came to Caversham to tell us about their experiences working with Tear Fund in Uganda.
Tear fund have a 10 year vision to see 50 million people released from material and spiritual poverty through a worldwide network of 100,000 local churches.
Tear Fund is the Evangelical Alliances Relief fund and was set up in the 1960’s to help relieve the famine that had been caused by Nigeria’s Civil war, the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s saw more famine and Tear fund was there helping to relieve the poverty and devastation of famine and flooding.
Now Tear fund are calling on the Church to be “part of a miracle” not a revolution as they aim to help people out of poverty.
